Saciido Shaie is the co-founder, President and Executive Director of Ummah Project. Saciido Shaie was born in Somali and came to America with her family in 1992 as a refugee. She is A graduate of Metropolitan State University with a Degree of Social Science and an Urban Education, she also has Associate of Islamic Studies. She is currently a candidate of the University of Minnesota, Humphrey Institute seeking to complete her Master in Public Policy

- Discussion involved the current situation in Puntland, Somalia and the future of the region. Somali Youth Future Leaders and the Muslim Student Association at MCTC passed out literature and shared discussion about their work and activism with Ummah Project.

Ummah Project Awarded $30,000 grant from YouthPrise
- Ummah Project (Community Mediation & Restorative Services, Inc. fiscal sponsor): One year grant totaling $30,000 to partner with Community Mediation & Restorative Services, Inc. and provide the Somali American Leaders and Mediators program. Funding will be used to train and qualify Somali American youth (ages 18-25) as mediators and restorative justice facilitators using a curriculum shaped by Somali and Islamic teachings and practices.
Ummah Project and NAPA tool
- Matthew Palombo, Vice President of Ummah Project has created a community assessment tool called the: Needs and Power Assessment for the new Somali Youth Future Leaders to explain in general, a needs and power assessment. The Somali Youth and Future Leaders will be asked to 1) identify 2 or 3 themes for a quantitative NAPA; 2) create 5 questions to create an online survey and use the information for the summer Somali youth conference and other Somali family nights. - Ummah Project will have a new office at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Ummah Project will execute its communications and operations from this office and this office will serve as a meeting place for community members
